About 30 minutes after writing the first part of this, they called me back. Somehow I missed the call, but luckily she left a message because I had to listen to it twice to believe what she said.

Wow. I'm stunned. Just, wow. Here's the story. I (along with my girlfriend) adopted a kitty on Sunday. She had to be spayed, so I couldn't pick her up until this afternoon. When we went to visit her on Saturday before we decided to adopt her, she was NASTY. She smelled to high heaven, and had feces caked in the fur of her hind legs and her tail. The female volunteer assured us that the kitty would be bathed. She even had a little sign on her cage door, something to the effect of, "Waiting to be bathed!" You'd assume it meant by them.
After adopting her, we were informed that because she wasn't altered (spayed), we couldn't pick her up until today because they needed to perform the surgery. Again, I asked if she would be bathed before she had surgery. "Of course." And DUH, on my part - who would perform surgery on a feces covered cat?

My good friend Chuck Anderson photographed all of the Threadless employees (and temps) last Christmas for his cover design of the new Less Than Jake record In With The Out Crowd. (Image after the jump)

Let me start by saying that I probably have no business writing a music review, but I'm gonna take a stab at it anyway. Dead To Fall is definetely one of my favorite Chicago hardcore/metal bands. Their last album Villany & Virtue (Victory Records) was perfect. It was raw, powerful, and filled with tough-as-shit breakdowns and sing-alongs ("A thousand open ears/and still not a word to say" - from "Bastard Set of Dreams").

Jen and I saw Brick (watch the trailer) last night at the Landmark Century Theatre. The movie was pretty good and there were some funny parts, but the serious parts seemed really forced. I couldn't decide if it was the writing or just the actors not being able to pull off the intended film noir style. The best parts were really clever, when the film noir style between two characters was obviously contained in an otherwise normal situation. I don't want give anything away, so I won't go into detail.
I will say, however, that I found it hard to take "Brendan" (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) seriously at first, because I kept expecting John Lithgow to bust into the scene ranting about The Big Giant Head.
I would recommend seeing it, just not for $9. Wait for Netflix on this one.

...mistakenly, I might add. Nothing makes me more infuriated than two giant companies' (Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation and United Healthcare) inability to figure out how to do what is, in essence, their jobs: GIVE AND RECEIVE MONEY.
It's a good thing these businesses are based in the healthcare, so they can get a discount for their treatment after I kick them both in the nuts.

I've been through some pretty traumatic stuff in my 27 years. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis when I was five years old, which was re-diagnosed as Ankylosing Spondylitis when I was 15 (Mick Mars, we really gotta hang out).

I've been getting a lot of feedback from people about my site since I officially announced it yesterday! There's been a lot of good suggestions, so I decided to integrate some of them.
Thanks to everyone who has given feedback!
- Make the bodytext darker - check!
- Make links in the bodytext darker - check!
- Change the left column "visit these websites" so they don't feel so much like a navigational element - check!
- change the order of the show/hide areas for sending a message and about me, so they mirror the verical order in the navigation - check!

Jake, Jacob, Jen and I went to NYC May 3-4. The original intent of this trip was 100% business because Threadless was nominated for a Copernican Award. When we found out that only 2 people from each company were allowed to attend the dinner/ceremony (Jake and Jacob went), I invited Jen to come with me so we could have a night to ourselves in NYC! Besides, we were staying at 60 Thompson in Soho - a boutique hotel I've wanted to stay at since last year when I strolled in to utilize their facilities (so to speak). The Jakes and I also had a bunch of PR appointments for Threadless & ExtraTasty so that also gave Jen a day to herself in NYC... a much deserved vacation.

Well, it had to happen sometime. I've officially succumbed to the "blogisphere". It might have come from everyone at my office insisting that I need one. I decided to take this need as an opportunity to learn something new, like how to properly write code.
With the help of my amazing co-workers Jake, Jacob & Harper at skinnyCorp, I've learned a pretty good anount of XHTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL (well, using phpmyadmin) to put together this little baby. I won't lie, the hard parts were done by them while I lurked trying to absorb what they were doing. They're really good teachers.
Anyway, I still have to program the work section. I guess that's not as important to me as having an outlet for writing, so I'm saving that for last. That shouldn't take very long.
Over and out.
